Our little outdoor space is still a work in progress. It is not 100% completed yet, but it’s getting there. I’m sure I will find other things to add or change over the summer, but for now, here is the latest update. If you remember from our previous post about my outdoor office, a part of our terrace opens onto the neighbours balcony.
I was looking for a solution to create privacy between the two spaces, not to mention that I need this opening completely blocked off to prevent my 2 little dogs from venturing out onto the neighbours property. At first we thought of having a door built, but because we live in a condo, we can’t build anything permanent without asking permission and having a meeting with the other owners, which was a process we did not feel like having at this point. Then I was thinking maybe we could build a planter and have a little garden.
But we finally opted to buy potted cedar trees. I’m actually glad we chose that option. Not only is it the perfect shield for the privacy I was looking for, but it added more greenery to my environment, which I love. We bought 2 cedars at first, but we could still see on the other side, so the next day we got another. We have strong winds on our deck sometimes, so to prevent the trees from falling on their sides, I placed them in a triangle and wrapped the three pots together, problem solved!!!!!
I also started some herbs in a wall planter, and I’m starting a few tomato plants and jalapeño peppers. This little outdoor space is slowly taking form. At the moment, this is our favourite room. We spend most of our days soaking up the sun and relaxing at night with a glass of wine. I love having friends over and sharing this space with them.
